Ambulance Tax Fails
The People of White County have spoken and there will be no special safety tax to support the White County Ambulance Service.
Coming as a surprise to many voters, the referendum which stated; To pay for public safety purposes, shall White County be authorized to impose an increase on its share of local sales taxes by 0.5 percent. This would mean that a consumer would pay an additional .50 cents in sales tax for every $100 of tangible personal property bought at retail, failed by a vote of 2980 no to 2833 yes votes, failing by a slim margin.
The Civil rights of firearm owners question that was on the White County ballot easily passed 4963 to 778.
