Albion to Celebrate Bicentennial
The City of Albion will celebrate 200 years this weekend, complete with food and craft vendors, live music and so much more.
The Bicentennial Celebration will kick off Friday, Oct 12 with lots of music on tap.
The Albanian String Band will perform at the Pagoda beginning at 4 Friday afternoon and then the official opening ceremonies will be held at 4:30. The Honey Vines will perform at 6, following by Jerome Thomas at 8 and then Jason Bishop and James Obermeyer at 9.
Albion’s historical buildings and courthouse will be open at 5 and the Post Office will be offering Bicentennial postmarks throughout the day Friday.
Saturday will include opening ceremonies at 10 and a vintage car cruise-in along Fifth street until 2 Saturday afternoon.
Food and craft vendors, historical artisans and the Bounce houses will open at 10, plus a waterball tournament is set to begin at 10.
Chowder will begin serving at 11 and a cornhole tournament will start at 1 p.m.
The Music also gets underway at 1 with Tony Booth and Edwards County native Dennis Stroughmatt performing first. The Community Band and Choir, along with the Edwards County High School band and choir will be on the stage at 3.
Lance Miller returns to the area for a show at 6, to be followed by the Lick Creek band at 7:30 to close out the festivities on Saturday.
Sunday will include a community church service provided by West Village Christian Church at 10:15.
The Salt Creek Band will perform during the church services.
At noon, the vendors will pen and there will be lunch on the bricks at noon on Fifth Street, with cupcakes to be served at 2 Sunday afternoon.
