Busy Day for Carmi Police

Busy Day for Local Police

It was a busy day for Carmi City Police as three arrests were made, with one coming before noon Monday.

Authorities arrested 33 year old Lujan Salvador Ramon, and 38 year old Pearl Rose Tapia, both were listed as homeless. According to the incident report, Ramon was stopped at the Carmi McDonald’s parking lot on suspicion of stealing a fan and some Flex Seal from the Dollar General Store in Grayville.

Ramon was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of stolen property. Tapia was also charged with possession of stolen property. Following a search of the vehicle, a corner baggy of methamphetamine and a meth pipe were found. The two were then additionally charged with use, and possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The two were arrested shortly after 10 Monday morning and remained in custody early this morning. (tues).

Local police made another drug bust around 7:15 Monday night after stopping Tabitha M. Holland of Carmi for driving while license suspended. She was also charged with possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. That traffic stop was made in the alley north of the 700 block of Maple Street. Holland also remained in custody early this (tues) morning.

Carmi officers also arrested Michial L. Thomas, 21, of Fackney Street, here in Carmi on a charge of harassment through electronic communication device after a complaint was filed by a Carmi resident.  The investigating officers decided there was enough information to arrest Thomas, who posted $150 cash bond and was released from custody following his arrest around 7:15 Monday evening.
