A 69 year old Carmi woman, Carolyn J. Dunn, is being held in the White County Jail following her Monday morning arrest by the White County Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department received a call around 10:37 a.m. from Carolyn Dunn requesting an officer at her residence, 1304 Stewart Street in Carmi, as she was having problems with her niece, 37 year old Serena Dunn. Carolyn told the Officer she was tired of dealing with Serena Dunn and her ways. She said Serena has lived with her for approximately a year, was on drugs, and that she hates Serena.
Serena told the Officer the two had been arguing and Carolyn picked up an item and threw it against her truck damaging the driver’s side rear quarterpanel. She said Carolyn then picked up a shovel and was waiving it towards Serena in a disturbing manner. Carolyn took the shade off of a lamp and threw a lamp hitting Serena. She then slapped Serena on the head with her right hand. The entire episode was caught on video that Serena took on her cell phone.
Carolyn Dunn was arrested on charges of Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. She is being held without bond.
