Ferrell Hospital, with assistance from Deaconess, will open a new medical facility in Carmi shortly. Nurse Practitioner Emily Goemaat with Clinic Practice Manager Kristin Parks were guest speakers at the Thursday, March 2nd Kiwanis meeting. Goemaat originally hails from Harrisburg, She expects Norris City native Caleb Mitchell, currently a resident physician at Deaconess, to join the practice in 2018.
The practice is expected to open on March 13th in the Carmi Crossings Plaza (across from Wal-Mart) where Midway Barbecue Shack used to be. In addition to Goemaat and eventually Mitchell, she says the Ferrell/Deaconess allegiance will hopefully allow them to bring in specialists from wound care, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) to a cardiologist and rheumatologist. Goemaat says the clinic will initally open Monday – Friday, but hopes for the clinic to expand to 7 day operation in the future.
