24 teams compete in Chamber of Commerce golf tournament Saturday

The foursome of Jordan Johnson, Troy Nelson, Kenny Carter and Chris Desper shot a 15-under to win the annual Carmi Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 23 at the Carmi Country Club.

Two teams were one shot back at 14-under, so a scorecard playoff determined second and third place. In that scorecard playoff, the First Bank team of Lance and Ty Barbre, John Romig and Ka Cee Fulkerson claimed second over the Elastec team of Matt Musgrave, Jeff Bohleber, Bill Brown and Greg Gibbs.

Bohleber also won the individual prize for longest drive for seniors, while Johnson took the same honor for men and Sandra Bryant won the longest drive for women. Nelson took the individual prize for longest putt and T. Barbre for closest to the pin.

A total of 24 teams took part in the tourney, which funds the Chamber’s annual scholarship, as well as grants to local teachers and money for the White County CEO program.

Chamber Executive Director Amber Ackerman and Education Committee Chairman Lisa Wolff thanked all the players and the Carmi Country Club, as well as all the tournament sponsors. First Bank and People’s National Bank were Gold Sponsors, and George Mitchell Drilling, Inc. was the Bronze Sponsor.

Nancy J. Winter, CPA and Brown’s Feed Store were First Place Sponsors, the City of Carmi and Ferrell Hospital Second Place Sponsors, and Dartt & Company LLC and The Courtyard Third Place Sponsors.

Sponsoring the Hole in One were Hale Body Shop and Hamilton Memorial Hospital, Closest to the Pin sponsors were Wabash Christian Therapy, U-Store U-Lock, Town and Country Real Estate and Joyner Therapy. Longest Drive sponsors were Campbell Energy, Caleb Hughes of Edward D. Jones, Merle Norman Cosmetics and Boutique, and Andy Acord of Edward D. Jones.

Taylor Eye Care, Southeastern Illinois College and The Property Shop sponsored the Longest Putt.
