Rehearsals continue for the Carmi League of Arts tribute to the Sound of Music. The show will feature the music from the original production along with story-telling narration. The main character, Maria, will be played by Tracy Orr. Scott Kiser has the role of Captain Von Trapp. The children are Kelsi Kessler (Leisl), Payton Dale (Friedrich), Brianna Stocke (Louisa), Gabe Kiser (Kurt), Jasmine Allen (Brigitta), Laney York (Marta), and Ellie Orr (Gretl).
Kessler and Chance Hamblin are learning a lively dance number as they sing “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” in their roles as Leisl and Rolf Gruber. But that’s not the only singing duo on stage. There will be Brittany Griffin & Cayman Passmore in a dance number as Elsa and Max.
Debby Hyatt leads the nuns in chilling vocals as The Mother Abbess. Stephanie Raczykowski, Rachel Sinclair, Zandrea Hafenrichter, Grace Sinclair, Kim Spence, Clara Emery, Anjelica Allen, Julie Jackson, Haley Winkleman, and Macaiah Norris harmonize beautifully with Hyatt as fellow nuns.
The goat herders will be played by Joseph Gates, Deborah Raczykowski, Mary Rose Raczykowski, Tanner Spence and Walker Sinclair.
The show will be narrated by Tyler Spence, Don Winkleman, and Scott Kittinger. Directors are Sherry Passmore, Lynn Cantrell. Zandrea Hafenrichter is providing musical direction and choreography. Ed Bohleber and Lana Anselment are working on the sets.
The show will run June 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m at the CWCHS Auditorium. Admission is free but donations to help offset expenses will be accepted. This production is the League’s contribution to Carmi’s Bicentennial celebration.
