Seventh Grade Volleyball Weekend Action
The 7th grade volleyball team played in the Benton tournament on Saturday, 2/9. It was split into pool play with four teams in each pool. Carmi jumped out on top and beat Anna Jonesboro in two with a score of 25-7 and 25-13. Their next matchup was against Hamilton County where they won the first game 25-23, lost the second 21-25, and lost the third 15-9. We definitely beat ourselves that game. The girls started hanging their heads on a few mistakes, and couldn’t find a good groove to get back in it. They came back and got it done in the third game against the host, Benton. We lost the first match 22-25, won the second 25-16, and won the third 15-8. When they stay positive, focused, and encourage one another, they are pretty unstoppable. We’re trying to get them to realize this early on.
In pool play, we ended up in a three way tie for first. It came down to total points given up in all of pool play for a chance to play the championship game, and we came up short. We ended the day 2-1 to add to our record of 3-2 overall.
