Talking Politics on Turkey Day
Back in the day, politics and religion were taboo subjects to discuss at any time, much less holidays. But over the years ,with news coverage 24/7, politics has become a topic that is often hard to avoid.
With that in mind, here are a few tips to remember if politics comes up at the Thanksgiving table today.
Check the facts; make sure you aren’t passing along false information.
Ask questions; don’t assume to know everyone’s beliefs.
Actually listen and be curious; Be an active listeners, you might learn something.
Set a good example for the kid’s table; Include everyone in the conversation and keep a respectful tone.
Remember, you’re all family; Differences of opinion don’t have to poison relationships; in an odd way, they sometimes make them stronger.
