Another Downtown Demolition Project Underway
The landscape of downtown Carmi will have a decidedly different look by Corn Days, as one old building is down and efforts are underway to take down another.
Workmen, equipment and trucks are now working on the demolition of the old movie theater on Main Street in downtown Carmi. It’s not clear how when that project will be complete, as impending weather will likely stall the completion of that demo-job. That work will affect a portion of the First Mid Illinois Bank & Trust drive through parking area, just off Main Street. Motorists are reminded to use caution in the area, while that work is on-going as there will be trucks in and out of the work zone.
Earlier this week, crews cleaned up the old Tie-On Roofing building demolition. Crews left that site with everything cleared down to the dirt. The Tie-On Building at one time housed York-Fiscus Chrysler and then Bowden Chrysler, prior to their sale to what is now White County Ford.
