A former Evansville man that bilked R Energy of Carmi out of more than $800,000 has been sentenced to almost 4 years in prison. The Department of Justice says 62 year old Kent Cutchin now of Gilbertsville, Kentucky pled guilty to possessing forged securities, money laundering and filing false tax returns. Between December of 2011 and February of 2015, Cutchin forged the signature of R Energy’s company president on more than 500 checks, written to himself and purchased items for personal use including home improvements and buying an ATV. In total, the amount of theft equaled about $837,251. In addition to jail time, Cutchin has been ordered to make full restitution to his former employer and repay more than $237,000 to the IRS.
