Owen Sentenced in White County Court Wednesday

Wendi Owen will spend the next 7 ½ years in prison following her sentencing yesterday in White County court.  Owen had been convicted for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a felon.  She was arrested in possession of a taser back in 2017.  She pled guilty in January of this year.  Her sentencing hearing was continued multiple times however.  Owen’s attorney filed a motion on Monday, requesting the charge, which she had pled guilty to previously, be dismissed.    This led to a lengthy argument yesterday prior to the sentencing hearing in front of Judge T. Scott Webb.  Once Webb denied that motion, State’s Attorney Denton Aud called one witness, Grayville Officer Michael Brown, who testified with regards to the alleged facts underlying Owen’s new offense charges surrounded to the Aggravated Fleeing, Aiding a Fugitive, Aggravated Assault, and Criminal Damage of Government Property following the White County Jail inmates escape in mid June.  Webb sentenced Owen to 7 ½ years with a year of parole to follow.  Her case on the new charges has been reset to August 8th at 10am.
