The Brownsville School Foundation is raising money for the Brownsville School playground renewal project. The organization has held a couple fundraisers recently including a cookout at Little Giant Grocery Outlet as well as an event at the Carmi Elks Lodge on Saturday. Jeremy Pretsch, said just over $3,300 was raised at Saturday nights activity which included a silent auction, food and music. Additionally, Pretzsch says four area Elks Lodges including Carmi, Fairfield, Mt. Carmel and Harrisburg have received grants totaling $11,500 to assist with the project.
The next event is a benefit trivia contest coming up this Saturday in McLeansboro.
