NCOE Board holds July meeting

The NCOE Board of Education held their monthly meeting July 18th in the Superintendent’s office. The minutes and the bills for the month were approved as presented.

The Board set the fees for the 2018-2019 school year. The lunch prices will be $2.55 at the elementary schools and $2.60 at the high school. Breakfast will remain $1.00 and adult lunch prices $3.00. The book rental fee will remain at $40 for elementary and $50 for high school. The admission rates for athletic events didn’t change.

During the meeting the Board accepted four resignations. Those were Caitlin Burklow, NCO p.e.; Angela Phillips, bus driver; Rachel Gray, teacher at NCO; and Robin Lowery, early childhood teacher at Booth.

With those resignations the Board hired several new employees for the 2018-2019 school year. Tanya Trout as first grade teacher at NCO and Amelia Schwartz teaching 4th grade at NCO. Cindy Ragan will move to teach Pre-K at Booth and Teresa Hutchinson was hired for 2nd grade teacher at Booth. Danielle Healy will be a substitute for the girl’s p.e. position at NCO.

Also, Jordan Johnson will be the j.v. high school basketball coach. Courtney McArthy was hired as a nurse at Booth and Kevin Austin as custodian at Booth. Jill Pruitt was hired to fulfill the role as special education coordinator for the school district.

The Board is wishing to employ a new bus driver for the upcoming school year.

Summer maintenance is wrapping up at all of the schools. The administrators were pleased with the effort and hard work.

In other business the Board:

– Renewal of the school treasurer bond.

– Approval of Booth Trust Report from Conger & Elliot.
