Evening viewing of the “Night Skies” at the Rend Lake Visitor Center

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Environmental Science Series continues Saturday, July 14, 2018 with the “Night Skies” program at the Rend Lake Visitor Center. Rend Lake College Associate Science Professor Greg Hollmann will begin the evening with an indoor presentation about the cosmos, as well as the latest update on space news. Then, as the sky turns dark, join Mr. Hollmann and Rend Lake Park Rangers outside to explore the solar system through a high powered telescope. Learn about bright stars, constellations, and planets through stories of ancient mythology and modern science. This evening program begins at 7:30 PM and will conclude around 9:30 PM. As always, the Rend Lake Environmental Science Series programs are free; open to the public; and suitable for all ages. Please feel free to bring a camp chair to view the night sky in comfort.

Saturday July 21, the Rend Lake Visitor Center/Project Office will be hosting Dan Peterson and his incredible bats at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Come and meet live bats to learn about their amazing adaptations and the myths surrounding these misunderstood creatures.
