The Mt. Carmel Police Department is investigating the death of a 24 year old woman reported Wednesday afternoon.
At 11:38 am, first responders were dispatched to a residence on 13th street after the woman was found unresponsive. She was transported to Wabash General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The identity of the woman is being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
Two male subjects residing at that residence were arrested by Mt. Carmel Police for providing false information to investigators. 22 year old Anthony Parrish and 45 year old Jeffrey Parrish were taken into custody after Anthony provided a false name. He also was found to be wanted on a White County warrant for burglary to a motor vehicle. Both men were charged with obstruction of justice and are being held at the Wabash County Jail.
A 13 month old child at the residence was taken into protective custody, and will later be turned over to a family member.
The investigation by the Wabash County Coroner’s office and Mt. Carmel Police is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected at this time. The Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Carmel Fire Department, Wabash General Hospital EMS, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services Unit all assisted at the scene.
