Busy weekend for Carmi Police

Carmi Police arrested 33 year old Kevin Merritt of Carmi on Friday morning at his residence on Fackney Street.  Merritt was taken into custody at 10:41 am and was transported to the White County Jail, where he is being held on a $500 bond.

Friday night, 37 year old Tabitha Swango of Carmi was arrested on an Edwards County warrant after Carmi Police responded to a loud verbal argument at the intersection of 7th and Shipley Streets.  Swango was taken into custody at 10:11 pm and was transported to the White County Jail.  She was later released after posting a $100 bond.

Saturday morning, Carmi Police arrested 38 year old Douglas Miller of Carmi following a traffic stop at the intersection of Stewart Street and Hillsdale Drive.  Miller was found to be driving on a suspended license and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Miller was released after posting a $150 bond.

54 year old Pamela Bassemier of Carmi was arrested Saturday afternoon on a charge of retail theft at the Dollar General.  Bassemier was placed into custody at 2:44 pm and transported to the White County Jail.  She later was released after posting a $150 bond.

Saturday night, Carmi Police arrested 26 year old Timothy Phillips of Carmi following a traffic stop on Main Street.   Phillips was taken into custody just before 9 pm, and inside the vehicle officers found methamphetamine, less than 10 grams of cannabis, and drug paraphernalia.  Phillips was transported to the White County Jail, and is being held without bond pending a court hearing.

Sunday afternoon just after 4 pm, 39 year old Tammy Price of Harrisburg was arrested by Carmi Police on a charge of retail theft at the Dollar General.  Price was transported to the White County Jail.

About an hour later, 25 year old Ariel Lowery of Harrisburg arrived at the White County Jail to pay Price’s bond, but a record check showed that she was wanted on a Saline County warrant for retail theft and was taken into custody.  Price was released after paying a $150 bond.  Lowery remains in custody at the White County Jail in lieu of a $700 bond.
