Carmi man sentenced after probation revoked Monday

In White County Circuit Court Monday, 29 year old Joseph James of Carmi was sentenced to seven years in prison on a charge of theft according to States Attorney Denton Aud.

James was originally sentenced to probation for the offence, but that was revoked following testimony from two witnesses who said that James had failed to report to drug testing, failed to report to probation for multiple months, and had violated an order of protection against him.  James is still facing charges in that matter.

Public Defender Brian Shinkle represented James, and sentencing was handed down by Judge T Scott Webb.  The Carmi Police Department investigated the case.
