The Board of Trustees of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges met for the regular meeting Tuesday, March 20, at Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel. The trustees and administration gave special recognition to Madison Ferreira, Student Trustee, and expressed appreciation for her service on the Board of Trustees during the past 12 months. She is a student at Wabash Valley College and her term on the Board ended with the March meeting. She was presented a plaque in recognition of her service to the Board of Trustees and the IECC district. A new student trustee will be seated at the April Board meeting.
An agreement on the tax assessment of the power plant in Newton was approved with Dynegy/Vistra, the owners of the Newton Power Plant. Upon approval of all fifteen taxing bodies, the agreement will be presented to the Jasper County Court for final implementation.
The trustees announced the intention to consider approval of contract extensions for the District’s CEO and the four college Presidents. The contracts will be considered at the April 17th Board of Trustees meeting.
The Board approved acceptance of a bid received for student activities covered by the TRIO Upward Bound Grant Program, from Brightspark Travel.
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the District’s accrediting agency, requires the appointment of and implementation of a Quality Initiative. Trustees approved the Strategic Plan as the IECC’s Quality Initiative and approved assignments for the implementation of the plan.
Affiliation agreements between the District and area health care facilities were approved for the Certified Medical Assistant Program and the Pharmacy Technician Program at Lincoln Trail College and for the Emergency Response Training Program at Frontier Community College.
Employment was approved for Catherine Halterman as Office Assistant at Frontier, effective April 4th and for Amber Jared as Administrative Assistant at the District Office, effective April 9th. A change in status was approved for Steve Patberg from Coordinator of Career Advisement at Wabash Valley College to Assistant Dean of Student Services, at Wabash Valley College, effective March 21st.
A resignation ratification was approved for Shelby Ennis, Administrative Assistant at Wabash Valley College, effective March 16, 2018. A retirement ratification was approved for Teresa Harris, International Student Liaison, located at Wabash Valley College, effective July 1st.
Next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, April 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Frontier Community College, Fairfield.
