The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
02/12/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested two subjects after police located a stolen vehicle parked in the parking lot of the Town and Country Motel in Mt. Carmel. Police on routine patrol located a 1997 Buick that was reported stolen out of Bloomington, Indiana. Police were able to determine the driver of the vehicle and placed 20 year old Tanner S. Houchin of Loogootee, Indiana under arrest. Houchin was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Also arrested was 21 year old Alexis E. Brock of Petersburg, Indiana. Brock was cited for possession of methamphetamine. Both subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail where they were held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 44 year old Gwen J. Leeper of Mt. Carmel after police stopped a vehicle where she was the passenger. The arresting officer reported he observed Leeper in the passenger seat of a vehicle and knew she was wanted ona Wabash County failure to appear warrant. The vehicle was stopped and Leeper was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was served the warrant. Leeper was held pending the posting of $300.00 cash bond.
02/11/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested Justin D. Spear, age 20, of Mt. Carmel after police stopped his vehicle. Police received a complaint of a reckless driver driving a 2014 Chevrolet. Police were able to locate the vehicle and stopped it after it disobeyed the stop sign at 12th and Market Street. During the traffic stop K-9 Ace alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted. Police reported finding drug paraphernalia and unopened alcohol inside of the vehicle. Spear was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. Spear was released after posting bond.
