White County Farm Bureau holds 97th annual meeting

The annual meeting of the White County Farm Bureau, held on Wednesday, January 17, marked the 97th annual gathering of the membership.

Larry Beck, President of the White County Farm Bureau, welcomed around 85 members and guests to the meeting.

The business meeting included approval of last year’s minutes, financial reports, membership report, Manager’s Report, updates on the Young Leader Committee, Ag in the Classroom program, and Illinois Farm Bureau.

Larry Beck of Carmi was re-elected to serve as President. Bryce Williams of Enfield was elected as Vice President. Kevin Seifried of Grayville was re-elected to serve as the Secretary-Treasurer. All three officers will serve a one-year term.

Members also elected five district directors… Brandon Barbre of Burnt Prairie was elected for a 1-year term in District 1; Eric Henning from Crossville was elected for a 3-year term in District 1; Brian Bryant of Carmi was elected for a 3-year term in District 2; Vance Burzynski was re-elected to a-1 year term in District 3, and Kyle Hoskins was re-elected for a 3 year-term in District 3. Mike Wicker of Enfield was elected to complete the remaining District 2 term of Bryce Williams.

Four directors retired from the White County Farm Bureau board at this year’s annual meeting. Combined, these four directors represent 107 years of experience as a director of the organization. From left, Don Duvall (40 years), Rusty Walsh (32 years), Richard Curd (20 years), and Ken Lamont (15 years). All four individuals were recognized with a retirement plaque during the meeting.

Larry Beck recognized four retiring directors. Retiring from the board were Don Duvall, Rusty Walsh, Richard Curd, and Ken Lamont. These four directors retire with 107 years of cumulative experience as an officer or director for the White County Farm Bureau.

David Brown, President of the White County Historical Society, gave a talk on the history of different settlements in White County, the Illinois Bicentennial, and the efforts of the Historical Society.
