Grayville City Council approves Enterprise Zone, purchases new squad car

The Grayville City Council met Monday night for the first time in November.  The Council agreed to accept the property owned by Becky Imboden at 142 N Fifth Street and demolish the building.  An agreement on what to do with excess property in the city is expected for discussion at the next meeting.

A bid submitted by Midwest Meters for the new water metering system was approved.  The system will work with the City’s current software.

The re-submission of the Enterprise Zone application along with Carmi, Albion, White and Edwards Counties was approved.

Pay requests for the park project were approved, and the Council voted to purchase a new squad car with USDA grant funds and money in the impound fund.

The first presentation of the tax levy estimate was submitted.

In the police report for October, the department answered 215 calls for service and opened 27 case files.  21 arrests were made and officers issued 46 citations, 43 warnings, and filed two crash reports.

The Grayville City Council meets again on Monday, November 27 at 7 pm.
