The following individuals were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On 11/07/2017, at approximately 7:30 pm, Wabash County 911 received a call of a careless driver coming into Mt. Carmel from Allendale. The caller advised the vehicle was in the wrong lane of traffic. MCPD Officer’s were able to get the vehicle stop and found the driver to be 20 year old Taylor N. Newton of Mt. Carmel. The arresting officer reported that Newton failed field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for DUI. Officer’s reported that a 2 year old was in the vehicle with Newton. That two year old was turned over to a family member. Police also reported finding a prescription pill inside of the vehicle. Newton was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with DUI drugs, improper lane usage, expired registration, endangering the life of a child and possession of a controlled substance. Newton was released after posting bond.
On 11/08/2017, at approximately 9:00 pm, MCPD Officers went to the 1100 block of Hillcrest Drive and placed 25 year old Joshua D. O’Daniel of Mt. Carmel under arrest after he was charged with failure to update his registration as a sex offender. O’Daniel was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he is being held pending the posting of $1,000.00. Police also cited 22 year old Kyle Galbraith of Mt. Carmel for possession of drug paraphernalia after police found him smoking cannabis inside of the residence. Galbraith was given a Mt. Carmel City ordinance citation and released.
