Carmi Rotary Trivia Contest a success

Saturday was the Fall version of the popular Rotary Trivia contest and it was a success once again for the Carmi club.

Twelve-four person teams took the floor and put their wits to the test during four rounds of ten questions each. Questions from history, pop culture, food, language, geography, the Bible and many others taxed the brains of the participants, but everyone held together and some truly impressive scores hit the board by night’s end.

Winning the event (again) was the Tri-County Terrors. This team has won on several occasions and always places near the top. The Terrors are made up of: Mike Erwin, Jeff Skaggs, Lee Lane, and Sean Dulaney. This team pocketed one hundred dollars for their winning effort.

Second place fell to another powerhouse, the Junior-Seniors. This team has also won the whole shebang many times, and is almost always in the money. The team consisted of: Cindy Conley, Stephanie Dennis, Ray Martin, and Kenny Harrelson.

Finally, third place belonged to another winning team from the past, although the team was missing a key member this year, as Gene Young was forced to miss the night due to poor health. The team, usually called the Brain Trust, was renamed “The Brain Trust minus the Frontal Lobe.” Even without Gene, the team had some amazing rounds and claimed the forty dollar third prize. The team featured: Jeff Trout, Melissa Brand-Welch, David Trout, and Eric Trout.

The Rotarians would like to thank all the teams, all the spectators, the American Legion, and the news media for providing support for this event.

The next trivia contest will be on Saturday, March 10th, 2018. If you don’t remember the date, just remember, “When the time changes – it’s time for Trivia.”
