Enfield woman sentenced Monday as habitual offender

In White County Court Monday, an Enfield woman was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being labeled a habitual offender due to her past criminal history.

According to States Attorney Denton Aud, 45 year old Kimberly Carter was sentenced to 11 years each on two counts of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine.  Carter entered an open plea of guilty on the charges in June.  The two sentences will run concurrently.

In addition, Judge T. Scott Webb sentenced Carter to pay a $500 fine and $1000 drug assessment in addition to mandatory fines, fees, costs, and assessments.  Following incarceration, she will be under mandatory supervised release for three years.

Carter was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle.  The case was investigated by the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force.
