The Board of Trustees of Illinois Eastern Community College District No. 529 met Tuesday night, October 17th at Lincoln Trail College, Robinson, Illinois and certified the district’s tentative tax levies for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018.
The Board approved a Resolution Declaring the Intent of the District to certify the District’s estimated tax levy for the year. The resolution establishes the levy for the education fund and the operations and maintenance fund. The 2017 estimated tax levy resolution is for taxes due and collectible in 2018. A public hearing will be held on the Tax Levy on November 21, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Olney Central College, and the Board will hear verbal comments or written testimony. The operating levies for the District remained the same.
The college district’s annual financial report for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2017 was approved to be filed with the Illinois Community College Board.
In a continued effort to ensure district policies remain in compliance with recently approved laws, trustees revised the policies addressing Appropriate Use of Information Technology Resources, especially as related to new copyright rules
The Board approved an expansion easement for an additional Frontier Community College Parking Lot project to be constructed and funded by Dean Kieffer. Mr. Kieffer is the owner and operator of student housing located near FCC.
The Board accepted the Environmental Scan report for Fiscal Year 2018. The report is used by the District to forecast future internal and external needs for both college programs and services. The data is used to assist the District in developing the Strategic Plan and provides information for grant applications. Types of data collected include local high schools graduate numbers, part-time and full-time enrollment within the District, degree attainment with the District, rates for Equalized Assessed Valuation in the District, and unemployment rates in the District.
The Board adopted Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan Resolutions for the counties of Crawford, Wabash and Wayne. The board previously adopted the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan Resolution for Richland County. These plans allow each college to work with the local Emergency Management Agency to implement the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for its county in case of a local emergency.
Health and dental insurance was approved for renewal with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to be offered under the IECC Marketplace. There are four (4) plans available for employees to choose from with varying rates and options for each plan.
Trustees approved a Health Savings Account contribution of $1,000 for each eligible employee who is enrolled in the District’s Qualified High Deductible Health Plan for calendar year 2018.
The extension of a rental agreement was approved with Rise Broadband Antenna to lease tower space for placement of wireless data communication equipment on IECC’s radio tower located at Wabash Valley College.
Affiliation Agreements were approved by the Board with eleven area medical facilities for Associate Degree in Nursing Program, the Emergency Response Program, and for the Phlebotomy Program.
Employment was approved for Liesl Wingert, as Coordinator of Transition Services at FCC, effective October 25, 2017 and Kaitlyn Vanarsdalen as Library Assistant at OCC, effective November 1, 2017.
A change in status was approved for Michelle McLaskey from Administrative Assistant, WED Program to Program Assistant, WED Program, and effective October 18, 2017.
The Board ratified the resignation of Amy Johnson, Program Assistant at WED, effective
October 20, 2017.
The Board ratified the retirement of Susan Adams, Nursing Instructor at OCC effective
February 24, 2018 and Kevin Weber, Workforce Education Instructor, effective January 1, 2018.
