The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court.
09/26/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 52 year old Vincent A. Sutton of Mt. Carmel after police were called to the 1100 block of W. 6th Street reference an unwanted person. When police arrived in the area they observed the suspect leave in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Police attempted to stop the suspect but he continued to the 600 block of Vine Street and ran into a residence. Police gave chase and were able to subdue the suspect. Sutton was arrested and charged with reckless driving. Sutton was out on bond and was told not to be at the victim’s residence. Sutton violated that bond and was therefore held pending the setting of bond.
09/28/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 50 year old Tyrone E. Chavis of Mt. Carmel after police responded to a domestic in the 1200 block of W. 3rd Street. Police arrived on scene and were told that the victim had been beat and strangled by the suspect. Chavis was located and placed under arrest. Chavis was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with aggravated domestic battery and resisting a peace officer. Chavis is being held pending the posting of bond.
