The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred late Wednesday night outside of Eldorado.
Saline County Central Dispatch received a call at 11 p.m. Wednesday night, that a subject had came to a residence on Dewey Road, reporting that he had been shot. Saline County deputies responded to the scene to find that Adam Smith, 33, of Broughton received a gun shot wound to the neck.
Smith was taken to Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Illinois by Med-Force EMS and was later transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana by Air-Evac helicopter. Smith remains in serious condition.
The investigation is continuing about the circumstances that led up to the shooting. More information will be released once it becomes available.
Illinois State Police and Eldorado Police Department assisted with the incident.
