Carmi Police arrest Chicago man attempting to use counterfeit bill

Monday afternoon, Carmi Police responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Oak Street and Industrial Drive.

According to the crash report, Junior Russell of Enfield failed to stop at the stop sign and struck an SUV driven by Crystal Dicus of Carmi.  Russell was transported to Hamilton Memorial Hospital by the White County Ambulance Service, while Dicus was transported by a family member.  Don’s Bumper to Bumper and Cherry Street Auto removed the vehicles from the scene.  Russell was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

38 year old Kristal McWhirter of Carmi was arrested by Carmi Police on a White County warrant for battery at her residence at 8:25 pm.  McWhirter was taken to the White County Jail, and later released after posting a $1000 bond.

At 9:07 pm, Carmi officers responded to a call of a verbal altercation at Murphy USA.  When police arrived they found that 25 year old Shawn Creamer of Chicago had attempted to buy gasoline with a counterfeit $20 bill.  Creamer was arrested on charges of forgery and retail theft.  He is being held without bond at the White County Jail.
