On September 2, 2017, The Guardian Center hosted its Firecracker Challenge 5k. The event was a success thanks to the wonderful support of the community. There were 45 registered runners and walkers, ranging in ages from 7 to 74. Awards were distributed to the top three in each age bracket. The overall male winner was Matt Pierson with a time of 19:12.2. Staci McGill topped the female runners with a time of 25:20.6.
