Grayville acquires another property for clean-up

The Grayville City Council met for their second meeting of August Monday night. Unanimous approval was given for the City to acquire property at 413 N. State Road in exchange for a $102.68 payment on 2016 taxes.  Mayor Joe Bisch stated that the City is continuing to pursue other properties for clean up, and that the City will make those properties available for sale once clean up is complete.

The Council continues to explore a proposal from the Mayor to give City employees a clothing allowance similar to the one the City’s police officers receive instead of the current uniform contract that costs the City $13,000 a year.

The Mayor also reported that the City is continuing to whittle down bids on the Park grant project to get plans under cost.

The Council agreed to donate $1400 in TIF funds to the GCAA for the refurbishment of the Wabash Theater marquee.  The donation will represent half of the estimated $2800 cost.

Commissioner Andy Brock reported that several old gas services throughout the City had been removed, and Mayor Bisch reported that several water leaks had been fixed recently.

The meeting adjourned at 7:11 pm and the Council will meet again on September 11th at 7 pm.
