Enfield Village Board still studying roof replacement

The Enfield Village Board met Tuesday night for their August meeting.

The Board decided to table a decision on two bids to fix the roof that was damaged by a storm recently. One bid was from D.C. Metal of Daviess County, Indiana for about $55,000 to put on a metal roof and another bid from Terry Sharp for $22,000 to put on architectural shingles. The Board members will study the matter further with a special meeting to be held to make a decision at a time and date to be determined.

The annual tax levy ordinance from 5/1/17 to 4/31/18 and the tentative budget agreement for FY 2017 were both approved. There will be a thirty minute public hearing on the budget before the regularly scheduled September 19th Board meeting at 7 p.m.

The Board will look into levying a fine for impounded vehicles due to DUI offenses.

A list will be compiled of properties in the Village that need to be cleaned up and warning letters will be written to the owners.

The Village will get in touch with the owner of a dilapidated house at Co Rd 200 E and Route 45 to get written permission to tear it down.

Also, they agreed to look into using pea gravel on Village streets instead of sand or oil and chipping.

A new computer for billing will be purchased to use with their new Quickbooks system because the current computer is not compatible.

The Board agreed to pay $100 to purchase a new banner for Mule Days, passed a resolution to close of a portion of Route 45 for the Mule Day parade and approved an open donation of $100 for Mule Days.

A resolution was also passed to close off Main Street for the Masonic Lodge car show to be held on Saturday, October 21st with registration beginning at 8 a.m.

The safe at the bottom of the drop-off box at the bank is malfunctioning and they’ll contact Spence Lock Shop in Carmi to fix it.
