IL Dept. on Aging Hosts Senior Day at Illinois State Fair

At this year’s Illinois State Fair, the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) hosts a variety of activities for older adults, their families and friends on Senior Day, Monday, August 14th. The event is open to the public and adults age 60 and older receive complimentary admittance into the fair that day.
A booth with additional information about IDoA programs and services it provides is also available.

When: Monday, August 14, 10:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Illinois Building, Illinois State Fairgrounds

What: Senior Day at the Illinois State Fair

• 10:30AM: Welcome & Introduction by Paul Palazzolo, Sangamon County Circuit Clerk
Remarks from IL Dept. on Aging Director Bohnhoff and IL Dept. of Agriculture Director Poe

• 11:00AM: The “NOT SO Newlywed Game” – sponsored by Central Illinois Senior Celebration

Cash prizes of $100 and $50 will be awarded to first and second place respectively

• 1:00PM: 2017 Illinois Senior Spelling Bee Finals sponsored by Assoc. of IL Senior Centers &
Humana

• 9:00AM – 3:00PM: Free health screenings in the open exhibit area. Includes: Home safety, bone health, colo-rectal, memory assessment, diabetes, fall risks, eye care and health assessments.

• 6:00 – 9:00PM: Ballroom Dancing
When: Thursday, August 17, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

What: Grandparent and Grandchild Contest– sponsored by Springfield Supportive Living
Registration NO LATER than August 17th, 1:45pm, in the Illinois Building, Dept. on Aging booth.
