Mt. Vernon’s outdoor Broadway Market will be open this Friday, August 4th from 4- 8 p.m. for Friday’s Food & Art and Saturday, August 5th from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. for Market Days. Both days will feature palettes of produce in bulk including peppers, cucumbers, onions, potatoes, apples, cherries and more for as low as $1-2! This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to get fresh, healthy food at an affordable price as school start back in session.
The Back to School Bash at Friday’s Food & Art will feature free dental exams by Dental Safari, free inflatables and a resource fair with the following agencies providing information for families, United Way, 4H, Dynamic Counseling & Consultation Services, Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies (SAFE), Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Spero Family Services, Heartland Young Marines, Lincoln’s Challenge Academy and District 80 Head Start. The United Way will be collecting school supplies for their Stuff the Bus project. Donors will have the chance to win St. Louis Cardinals tickets and several gift cards. Market Days are Mt. Vernon’s very own outdoor flea market and vendor fair on the first Saturday of the month May- September. A large variety of vendors will be selling diverse items such as antiques, collectibles, handmade items, plants, jewelry, blacksmithing, baked goods, kettle corn and more.
