Patrick L. Molt, MD, FACS and General Surgery Resident, Jamie Harris, MD
Fairfield Memorial Hospital was blessed when Patrick L. Molt, M.D. FACS returned home in 1999 as a General Surgeon. The caliber of experience Dr. Molt received during his undergraduate degree from Washington University and professional degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York is of great value. He completed his surgical residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in 1983 and began practicing in 1985 after finishing a surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Today, Dr. Molt serves as the Chief of Surgery and President of the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. This year, due to his expertise and the high volume of surgical procedures he conducts, Dr. Molt is serving as an adjunct professor for Rush University Medical Center – John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County Integrated General Surgery Program. During this year, patients of Fairfield Memorial Hospital and Patrick L. Molt will have seven Senior Level General Surgery students they may meet during each resident’s six week rotation.
Jamie Harris, MD, a fourth year General Surgery Resident from Rush University Medical Center – General Surgery Training Program is currently in her third week of a rotation with Dr. Molt. She is the first General Surgery Resident that has come to Fairfield to do her rural surgery clinical rotation.
“I am so appreciative of the opportunity to obtain operative experience with Dr. Molt. He has such a large variety of cases that I get to be part of. Gaining this type of exposure and experience to learn and assist with a large array of surgical cases is extremely valuable for my future success in this field. I find it neat to see how this facility and Dr. Molt runs his practice. He has such a close relationship with his patients that they wouldn’t get to have with a surgeon in a large medical center,” stated Dr. Harris.
“I feel blessed to be serving as a faculty member for this residency program. It has been about fifteen years since I have served as an faculty member for surgery residents and it is exciting to have these doctors doing rotations with me,” stated Dr. Molt.
