Barton told the club that Egyptian Health Department has been providing home health services in the area for over forty years. They have contracted with Joyner Therapy Services in the majority of their region for over ten years.
Cook told the club that Joyner Therapy Services has three locations, including their location on April Avenue in Carmi, which opened in December 2012. In addition to their clinics and home health, they also work with nine nursing homes in the area. When it comes to home health with Egyptian Health Department, Cook stated they work with the physician and Egyptian Health Department for the patient to have needed services as “seamless as possible.”
Barton noted that home health can include nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or a combination of services. To have home health services, individuals must be homebound, meaning they cannot leave their home without taxing effort and an assistance device by Medicare standards. A physician must sign off on the home health services. Most home health services last 3-7 weeks. The goal of home health therapy is to help the patient meet individualized goals for their situation and keep them as healthy as possible.
In club business, President Jeremy Jordan reminded the club that Corn Day is 86 days away.
