The NCOE Board of Education recently held a public hearing and passed the 2016-2017 amended budget. Mr. Vollman told the Board that the district has been conservative with spending but since the State has not been sending transportation or special education payments this has made keeping a balanced budget difficult. For the 2016-2017 school year the State owes the school district $488,628.55.
During the regularly scheduled board meeting, the minutes and the bills for the month were approved as presented.
Prairie Farms will once again provide milk for the 2017-2018 school year. CRS OneSource had the lowest bid for cafeteria supplies and Bimbo Bakeries will provide bread and bakery products.
Mr. Vollman also updated the Board on summer maintenance projects. The bathrooms at the high school are being fully renovated as well as new floor coverings to some classrooms and bathrooms. The district also received approval from insurance to begin complete roof replacement at Booth school due to the storm damage that occurred in April. All new ceilings will be installed in hallways and water damaged classrooms at Booth as well.
The Board employed Gena Johnson for Booth Science teacher and Dustin Murray for NCO Social Science Teacher. Kory Sutton was employed as a bus driver.
The Board approved the district’s Title I plan as part of the federal program required by all school districts.
