Carmi City Council appoints Library Board members

The Carmi City Council met for the second time in June Tuesday evening.  Before the meeting got underway, a moment of silence was held for Alderman Tracy Nelson, whose mother had passed away earlier in the day.

Following approval of the June 6th meeting minutes and financials, the Board unanimously agreed to re-appoint Sharon Martin, Rick Absher, and Pete Fulkerson to three year terms on the Library Board.

A resolution to allow the re-routing of traffic for Corn Days on October 13th and 14th was approved, and the Council unanimously approved the annual prevailing wage ordinance.

At Mayor Jeff Pollard’s request, a 2007 Ford Edge and a 1999 Ford Taurus that had been seized by the Carmi Police Department were declared surplus, and the City will seek bids for their sale.

Mayor Pollard reminded residents about the electronic recycling event happening this Saturday and of the upcoming Lions Club car show on July 1st.  Pollard also announced that there will be a car and plane show held at the airport September 16th, and that the next City Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 5th at 5:30 due to the Independence Day holiday.

With no executive session, the meeting adjourned at 5:40 pm.
