FMH presents May Employee of the Month

Each month, Fairfield Memorial Hospital honors an employee who has exemplified outstanding patient care and customer service internally and externally.

Pictured is Keyna Warren, Director of Environmental Services at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, handing the May Employee of the Month plaque to Lois Rutger, Housekeeper.

In May, Lois Rutger, who has worked at Fairfield Memorial Hospital since 2014 was named Employee of the Month.  Lois serves as an important member of the surgery and housekeeping teams.  Lois’ peers who nominated her described Lois as an employee who always gets the job done with a smile.  They acknowledged how hard working, dependable, and attentive she is when doing her work, and is an individual who always goes above and beyond daily to serve in her role.

“As a member of the surgery team, Lois fills a critical role in infection control. Every job in the surgery department is based on the principles of infection control.  The duties of being a housekeeper are very specialized in the surgery department and most especially in the operating rooms.  Without conscientious housekeepers who abide by the standards governing the cleaning of that department, our best efforts would not be nearly enough to ensure good patient outcomes. Lois is dedicated to those standards and principles.  She is also conscientious about her attendance at work, realizing that even one team member’s absence makes a difference in the functioning of the entire team.  The surgery department routinely receives compliments on the cleanliness of our department, in which Lois is a critical part of, helping us make our department not only shine, but also excel. We value her commitment to excellence and our team,” stated Hazel Vest, RN, BSN, FMH Surgery Nurse Manager.

“Lois is a self-disciplined and dedicated individual who comes in everyday prepared to serve.  The diligent service she provides to our patients, under the strictest infection control and safety standards, is nothing less than exceptional!  She has a solid work ethic, is dependable, and committed to the mission and values of this hospital.  She somewhat has “two families” at FMH.  She is an essential member of the Environmental Services Team, whose primary role also makes her a key member of the Surgical Services Team.  She is very deserving, and it is my pleasure to have her as part of my team of excellence,” stated Keyna Warren, Director of Environmental Services.
