The Grayville City Council met Monday night for their second meeting of May. Before the meeting, Bob Houser was recognized for ten years of service with the City.
After approval of the Treasurer’s report and approving the consent agenda, the Council heard from Architectural Design Group of Mt. Carmel on the final plans for the City Park, which will include new public ADA accessible bathrooms and shower houses, a new campground by the river, revitalizing the existing campground, a new 30×50 shelter house and a 9 hole Frisbee golf course. The plan approved by the Council will allow bids to be let on July 6th and a pre bid meeting will be held at the Park on June 28th.
John Acree of Lamac Engineering was on hand to discuss the bids for the water well and water line projects that will be paid with Rural Development funds. At Acree’s recommendation, the water line bids were tabled and the well project bid was rejected so it can be modified and rebid prior to the June 26th meeting.
A bid for the Koehler/Madden Street extension project was awarded to Kieffer Brothers for $329,352.
The Council unanimously approved the IDOT permits for the Memorial Day parade, and a request from the GCAA for a utility credit of $2000 was also approved unanimously.
Mayor Joe Bisch asked the Council for approval of going forward with demolishing several abandoned properties that are causing issues in the City. The Council approved allowing the Mayor and City Attorney Jay Walden to begin compiling a list of priorities for the next meeting.
Two alley vacation ordinances were approved unanimously.
Walden reported that the Hoosier Stamping revolving loan had been paid off, and Commissioner David Jordan reported $3788 in oil income.
Commissioner Andy Brock reported that on the last utility bill, a computer error miscalculated 598 gas meters and charged the minimum instead of units used. A correction will appear on next month’s bill.
Commissioner Bob Stroud reported that the pool water looks good, but brought up the possibility of cutting down a pine tree near the pool for maintenance reasons. The Council will explore that possibility.
The meeting adjourned at 7:47 pm and the Council will meet again on Monday, June 12th.
