Carmi Police received a 911 call about a domestic incident on 2nd Street at 4:16 pm Wednesday afternoon. When officers arrived, they found the suspect, 56 year old Karen Miller had left the scene.
Miller was soon stopped a few blocks from the residence. The victim stated that the two had a verbal argument that turned violent when Miller attempted to stab him with a pair of scissors and a knife. Officers determined both Miller and the victim were intoxicated at the time.
Miller was transported to Hamilton Memorial Hospital by the White County Ambulance Service. A warrant for violating conditions of mandatory supervised release was issued for Miller by the Illinois Department of Corrections, and Miller was taken into custody after her release from the hospital.
In addition, Miller was charged with domestic battery and aggravated assault. She is being held at the White County Jail without bond pending a court hearing.
