The Carmi City Council met Tuesday to swear in new members at the first meeting in May.
After approving the April 18 meeting minutes, incumbent Aldermen Shelia Headlee, Doug Hayes, and Steve Winkleman took the oath of office along with newly elected Ward 4 Alderman Tracy Nelson administered by City Attorney Greg Stewart.
Stewart then administered the oath of office to incumbent Mayor Jeff Pollard and newly elected City Clerk Cynthia Attebury. As Nelson and Attebury took their place at the Council table, Mayor Pollard explained that there were no items for consideration on the agenda for this meeting. Pollard then announced the reorganized chairs of Council committees and thanked outgoing City Clerk Brian Allen and former Ward 4 Alderman Keith Davis for their service to the City.
Allen thanked those present for the opportunity to serve, saying that he appreciated his time as City Clerk, and gave a vote of confidence in Attebury.
The meeting adjourned at 5:39 pm and the Carmi City Council will meet again on Tuesday, May 16th at 5:30 pm.
