The official entertainment line-up for this year’s Mt. Vernon Fall Fest, held September 29- October 1, has been announced. Friday night’s show will open with Southern Ill native country group, Savannah Rose and Atlanta Burning. They are currently recording a new album with db Records Nashville. From Murphysboro, Ill, Murphy 500 will also take the stage Friday night. The country music band has opened for artists Jon Pardi, LoCash Cowboys, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, Mo Pitney, Clayton Anderson, Eli Young Band and Kid Rock.
Saturday’s music includes the local Southern Illinois band, Downstate Music Company. DMC plays horn driven rock, soul, disco, blues and R&B songs from the past and present. Chicago 80s Hair Rock Tribute Band, Hairbanger’s Ball, will perform Saturday, as well. Hairbanger’s Ball has sold out shows across the United States covering iconic bands such as Guns N’ Roses and Poison. Saturday’s lineup also includes alternative rock band, Blessed Union of Souls. They’ve performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Live with Regis and CBS This Morning. Some of their hit songs include “I Wanna Be There”, “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)” and “Let Me Be the One”.
Sunday’s lineup will feature blues music this year. Known in the St. Louis blues and roots scene, Big Mike Aguirre & The Blu-City All-Stars will bring the St. Louis Blues, Memphis Soul and New Orleans Funk to the Fall Fest stage. Sunday’s lineup also includes The Ivas Johns Band. Chicago-born, Ivas John has played shows across the Midwest with fellow artists Leon Russel, Guitar Shorty and Nick Moss. Finally, from The Kyle Yardley Blues Band, based in the St. Louis region, Kyle Yardley will cover classic blues with the Chicago style harmonica.
