NCOE School Board reorganizes at April meeting

The NCOE Board of Education held their monthly meeting April 19th in the Superintendent’s office.  The minutes and the bills for the month were approved as presented.

The Board approved the election results and Mike Hite was seated as a new member along with incumbents Joe Lane, Karen Weiss, and Scott Riggs.

Joe Lane was re-elected as Board President; Karen Weiss was elected Vice-President and Paul Black re-elected as Secretary.  They will serve two year terms.

The Board accepted resignation letters from Robert Connaway, custodian; Stevey Ukena, jr. high cheer sponsor; Josh Billingsley, ag teacher; and Rachel Fink, jr. high language arts.

With the school year winding down, the Principals updated the Board with several dates of upcoming events.  The History Fair will be May 4 in Springfield and NCO has 5 students attending.  Eighth grade graduations will be May 22 at 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.

The high school will be hosting their Spring Arts May 5th.  The annual senior class trip will be May 8-12.  The Golf Scramble will be held May 6th.  The Ministerial Alliance will host a party for the graduates on May 15.  Baccalaureate will be at 7 p.m. May 17; Senior Honors will begin at 10 a.m. on May 18; and Senior graduation and party will be on the evening of May 19th.

Superintendant Matt Vollman also updated the Board on the roof damage to Booth school that occurred during the storm on April 4th. There was extensive damage to the roof and a new roof installation will be required. The school is still waiting on a final roof estimate and insurance coverage.

In other business the Board:

– Employed Andy Downen as custodian.
