Musgrave, the Director of Programs of Study for the Regional Office of Education #21, has been active for many years with a number of RLC’s Advisory Committees. Throughout those years, she has collaborated with over 15 programs to help develop a curriculum sequence beginning in ninth grade.
According to her nomination, Musgrave has “been a long-standing participant and champion for the work completed by Advisory Committees. She has dedicated herself to ensuring students are provided with a seamless and smooth transition from secondary to post-secondary school through her work.”
The first Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to Katie Karcher, owner of Seasonings Bistro in Benton and 2009 RLC Culinary Arts graduate. She was nominated for her continued support of the program and for encouraging students through numerous cooperative opportunities.
Kelli Stover, Director of the South Central Illinois Area Health Education Center (SCI-AHEC), was also awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for her years of service to RLC. She helped RLC obtain over $10,000 in Certified Nurse Assistant scholarships; $8,000 in Allied Health Club funding; $3,000 in funding for the annual Children’s Health Fair; and over $3,000 in funding for the annual Discovery Camp.
The final Certificate of Appreciation recipient was Van Voyles, Licensed Architect Partner and Principal at White and Borgognoni Architects, PC in Carbondale. The RLC graduate has been a member of the Architectural Technology Advisory Council for over 15 years and continues to bring his professional knowledge to the students at RLC.
Each of the award winners were nominated by faculty and one individual was selected from each division. The final nominations were made by RLC Deans; Lori Ragland, Vice President of Career Technical Education; and Terry Wilkerson, President.
