Fathers of little girls are often teased about how their daughters hair looks when they get them ready for the day. Luckily, Southeastern Illinois College’s cosmetology program has come up with a solution for a father’s hair woes.
On April 1 from 9-11 a.m., the cosmetology program will host their first Daddy/Daughter Hair School. During this event, cosmetology students and instructors will teach fathers how to do simple up-dos and braids among other fun hairstyles for their daughters.
“We are excited about our Daddy/Daughter Hair School because in today’s world fathers are taking more responsibility in their children’s care,” said Renee Boots, SIC cosmetology instructor. “More mothers are working outside of the home and we are seeing more ‘Mr. Moms’. Our hope is to make mornings a little easier for dads and for them to have a new, fun way for them to spend more time with their daughters.”
Shelby Carter, SIC cosmetology student and club president added, “We have worked hard all year, and this is a fun way to give back to the community and show our talents, as well as help fathers stay away from the vacuum cleaner pony tails that you see online.”
This event is free to the public, but space is limited. To register for this event, call 252-5400 ext. 2213 or 2217. Students interested in enrolling in Southeastern’s cosmetology program should inquire early, as this program fills quickly and registration begins March 27.
