INA, Ill. (March 3, 2017) – Tailor your computer to fit your needs with Rend Lake College’s Linux for Home User class next month. Thanks to local donations, RLC’s Community and Corporate Education Division is offering this course wherein each student will keep their computer at the end of the day.
Instructor James Featherstone will cover the basics of using Linux Mint, an easy-to-use operating system for personal use. The system offers excellent security and provides all the basic programs needed to surf the web, send emails, create documents, produce presentations, and much more.
Linux also offers countless applications free to download, giving students limitless options for personalizing their own machine. How-to instructions for connecting to the Internet and downloading free applications will also be available.
The class costs $50 and meets from 5 – 9 p.m. Monday, March 27, in the Advanced Technology Center, Room 178, on the Ina campus. All participants will keep their customized computer, excluding the monitor.
