Rotarians learn little known Presidential facts at Thursday meeting

At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, Tom Logan, in honor of President’s Day, told the club about some little known Presidential facts. Most of the information was about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. One interesting fact is that historians have voted them the top 2 Presidents and neither had any formal education. Washington is the only president not to live in Washington, yet numerous cities, counties and states are named after him. Lincoln is known for one of the shortest speeches in history but one of the most well-known, the Gettysburg address.

In club business, Rotarians discussed the fact that the Trivia contest is only 2 weeks off. It is scheduled for March 11 at the American Legion. It will begin at 6PM. The cost for a 4 person team is $40. Rotarians will provide the snacks and a sign up sheet was passed around. The Rotarians voted unanimously to sponsor a table at the Cosmic Bingo to be held at the Washington school on March 3rd. Cindy Conley named Kent Armstrong the phantom. For the second week in a row, Morris McCall won the honor of selecting the pink ball in the 50/50 drawing and did win the large pot. Janice Alka of the Mt. Carmel Rotary club visited the club and brought members up on current news. Andy Williams and Little Giant prepared a delicious meal of baby backed ribs, baked beans, slaw and potato salad. The club meets at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Anyone wishing to get involved is encouraged to come help Rotary with the many local projects and charities that are supported. You can follow us on Facebook.
