White County Sheriff’s Department aids in Indiana theft investigation

Monday morning, the White County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Crown Well Services of Owensville, Indiana.  The owner, Clint Anderson, explained that two men were trying to sell items stolen from his business at the Lewis Scrap Yard in Burnt Prairie.

Deputies arrived to find 34 year old Michael Wright of Griffin, Indiana and 37 year old Clifford Cattles of Grayville at the business, and were soon joined by Anderson there.  Wright told officers that he was told by an employee that he could collect the scrap, which was denied by the employee.  Later, the reporting officers noticed a container of marijuana in the pickup used by Wright and Cattles, and Wright was given a citation for possession of cannabis.

Cattles was arrested at the scene for driving on a suspended license.  He was transported to the White County Jail and later released after posting a $150 bond.

Pictures of the stolen materials were taken by the Sheriff’s Department and forwarded to the Gibson County Sheriff’s office, who will conduct the theft investigation.  Anderson was able to recover his stolen property.
