Carmi Police responded to a traffic accident on Oak Street Monday afternoon involving a Fed Ex semi. At 12:39 pm, William Badham of Shelbyville, Kentucky told officers he was eastbound on Oak Street and was watching a vehicle that had pulled out from Sixth Street and struck a parked car owned by Shannon Gwaltney. The accident pushed Gwaltney’s car into the street, and had to be towed from the scene. Badham was cited for improper lane usage.
At 10:16 pm, Carmi Police responded to a 911 call from 404 4th Street about an argument between two of the residents of the home in progress. At the scene, officers arrested 49 year old Shannon Smith and transported her to the White County Jail. Smith is being held without bond on a charge of domestic battery pending a court hearing.
